Office of the Fire Marshal & Fire Academy
WELCOME
The multi-faceted mission of the Division of Fire Safety is
to protect the public and the fire service with coordinated
efforts in code enforcement, fire service training, public education,
hazardous materials and incident investigation thereby reducing
the loss of life and property due to fire and other emergencies
in the State of Vermont.
The Division of Fire Safety provides a number
of services related to the safety of residents and guests of
the State. The Division has four regional offices located in:
Barre, Rutland,
Springfield and Williston,
the Vermont Fire Academy and
training site located in Pittsford, and the Main
Office located in Berlin.
Each regional office provides review of construction
documents, permitting, inspections, safety education and training,
data management, product or site investigation and response
to emergencies.
The Fire Academy provides training, certification, data management
and training resources for the fire service, and support of the
Fire Service Training Council.
The main office provides support for the regional offices, the
Fire Academy, and the State Hazmat
Team. The main office is also involved with data management
for the National Fire Incident Reporting System, certification
of technically qualified people for specialty trades, technical
assistance, appeals, administrative orders and penalties, fire
safety education, technical training, public outreach and support
for the Access Board.
